They are jerks and telling her that, even if true, was definitely not cool. It totally gave her a complex. And her personal experiences have backed up thaeir assertions, so... yeah. Needless to say I have given her many pep talks about how lots of guys will love her height. But these are her experiences (and they are valid)

I'm 5'9" and get plenty of attention from men. Tall men, short men, it doesn't matter. It's not her height leading to these bad experiences.

I'm a tall woman (5'10") and never felt that men preferred short women. I got plenty of attention back in my single days. But I for whatever reason have never been attracted to tall men. I used to get asked out by very tall men quite often (maybe 6'3"?) but it never felt right. I even met some tall men back in the day who said they loved my height. But the very tall guys seemed out of proportion to me. Also I sometimes had the feeling that the tall men were only interested in me because of my height. Most of my ex boyfriends were a bit shorter than me -5'8" maybe. My husband is exactly my height which for me is perfect.

I'm 5' 9" and usually dated guys a little to a lot taller. Definitely have not found that tall men like short women. More the other way around.* My male family members are all tall and generally only dated/married tall-ish women. Tall guy friends would want to be set up with taller women. I don't think height was necessarily a dealbreaker for any of them (tho some have explicit mentioned the desire for tall children ), just one factor of many.

* That said, I am sure there are plenty of tall guys that prefer short women. Clearly, they wouldn't have been dating me!

I think a lot of short guys probably don't choose to date tall women, but otherwise I don't even understand what you're talking about.

This is ridiculous. Most guys do not "hate tall women". I am pretty average, IMO (5'11") and I dated three >=6ft women. Their height was statuesque and made them all the more attractive to me.

There are plenty of people who don't care one way or the other, but if there is a stereotypical (common) pattern it is that women want a taller male partner.

If you are posting you are 5'11, I'm gonna go ahead and guess you are 5'10, which makes you short. So you proved OP's point!!!

Me, short woman. Only date taller men. It's to equalize the height genes.

I'm tall and never had any issues attracting men, tall or short. There is no universal tall woman experience.
