I'm 5'10" and happy with my height. I played a lot of sports so it helped to be tall and have a sporty physique. I hated being taller than a lot of the guys but that was my only issue. Oh and finding pants that fit.

Closer to average I'd say. My mom is 5'7" and I always thought she was tall since I'm a few inches shorter than her, but now with my tall sils, she seems closer to my height. Plus lots of tall women posting at 5'10" and taller.

FWIW, I hates my height while growing up. Now, I love my athletic frame and long legs. I wear high heels whenever I want, too.

I'm also 5'9 and also hated my height while growing up. It wasn't until my 20s that I realized all the advantages of being tall.
My only gripe at this point is my shoe size. Don't know about you, DCUM tall girls, but my flippers are size 11 these days. (( Used to be 10.5 and somehow got even bigger during my pregnancies.

That's nothing! After my second kid, I am a size 11.5. Practically, that means I'm wearing 12s. It sucks mightily but I love being tall otherwise. When I was young, I enjoyed the "You should be a model!" comments. Now I enjoy the "Can you reach me that bottle of half and half on the top shelf?" comments at Trader Joe's.

12:26 - I'm tall with an athletic build. Gabrielle Reece is sort of my body idol, and I'm built like her. I also think of Michelle Obama as someone who is tall, with an athletic build. (with the bonus of not being a pro athlete, so her build is more realistic for the average woman.)

Tall with an athletic build could probably describe just about any pro basketball or volleyball player, and some swimmers and runners. (though some runners are very skinny.) For non-athletes, maybe Jessica Biele and Brooke Shields.

So far she likes the attention and comments about her height, but my fear was that once she is in middle school it would become a negative. So this thread is great news.

One question: for those that say they are tall with an thletic build, what does that mean? Can you give me a celebrity to illustrate what that looks like?

NP here, I'm 6'2" and wanted to give you a little advice for your son. Please encourage him to stand tall and not slump because he's so much taller than his friends. I've been taller than my peers my entire life. My dad is tall and my mom is 5'5". She taught me to be proud of who I am and stand tall. I'm a firm believer in doing the best with what you're given in your life... so stand up straight and own who you are! That can be hard in those awkward teen years when you tower over your friends.

I often see tall women who slump there shoulders and mentally thank my mom every time.

I'm 5'8. Tall to me is a woman who is 5'10 and above.

I like being my height. I would love to be taller - about 5'10 would be great.

To me, anything 4" or taller than the average for your "group" (be it all women, a certain heritage, etc) would be tall. An average Caucasian woman is 5' 4.6". I agree 5'8" is on the bubble for being tall. You're visibly taller than the average if you're in a group of women, but not so tall that you're necessarily recognized as such when standing by yourself.

PP here. I'm not white.

I'm 5'4" and can't reach the top of my cabinets and it's ANNOYING. All the women in my family are tall and thin. I'm not short (5'4" is average) but it's still frustrating. For the pant length problem, I suggest getting an inexpensive sewing machine and learn to hem clothes. It's very useful. I use mine mostly for fixing hems on my family's clothing, but for a short person it could be useful to alter clothing.

I'm 5'8", but never really thought of that as tall. I'm the shortest in my family, including my in laws and nieces!

But yes, I've always been comfortable with my height.

I'm 5'8", which I think is the perfect amount of "tallness." I'm taller than average height, clothes look good on my body, but I'm not towering over EVERYONE.

OP here! Nice to see tall women are loving it! Didn't expect so many positive responses but it's truly awesome to see.

5'10. Great for everything except dating. Doesn't stop me from dating someone, but would prefer taller.
