Took at look at Tysons Exchange, they only had a few rings, all look to be in fair shape and prices don't look attractive. LGL and EGL certs?

Vienna is not any better. I don't think I saw any certified stones at all. Prices look high for uncertified diamonds.

Cut cut cut, and high quality melee if you are going in that direction. My is an AGS 000 and it is brighter and more beautiful than anything I've seen out there. I wear mine everyday, all the time. I love looking at it. Not everyone loves jewelry but it happens to be something I really like. To each his own.

We upgraded our rings 11 years ago. After much research, we bought a 1.13 carat D color SI1 diamond from a diamond cutter in NYC via online. The cut is really important! We were more educated about the stone than anything we would have gotten from a local jeweler. They used to be called Superbcert diamonds, now they go by excel diamonds. Lol ready for this? My ring is about $8K. I wear it every day. Dh and i are very happily married AND we make sizable charity contributions both monetarily and physically. Quit with your judgement and assumptions. You sound ridiculous.

Not OP, but this is not helpful and quite judgmental.


Too bad. I am sure it is meant to be. Sounds like they are living together already. So with all that savings, have they done anything for anyone anytime ever? I ask the same question of myself and don't always like that answer either.

Mine is a sapphire solitaire. It's vintage and beautiful- people give me compliments all the time, and I've been married for ten years. We got it at a vintage dealer and paid $3k.

Vintage! I have almost a carat in platinum from the 20s and it was 3k. It was well loved and the stone shows it a little on the ends. Goes well with my beloved pieces from my grandmother. One of a kind. European cut which they don't make anymore, super sparkly.
Costco also has good deals if you want new.

I REALLY wish I would have gone with a sapphire solitaire. I don't know why I got all caught up in the diamond thing. Blue is my favorite color, and I'm sure it would have been much cheaper!

Buy am antique ring. Rings used to be handmade and there is more to a ring than just the size of the stone - lots if pretty details. Mine was about 4K with a .6 carat diamond of average quality and I get lots of compliments. I also wasn't set on a diamond but the store we went to, this is what I ended up liking.
