I know I'm a little late to the game but I wanted to share that my 8th grader has had improvement with Intuniv. He's got ADHD/Anxiety/tics. He was on Prozac for a while in grade school for debilitating anxiety and we had good results with that. Hasn't had it since middle of ES. His first year of MS (7th grade) was really good - no meds. This year started out well but then he started internalizing some negative things kids said (typical MS shit, not bullying and not targeting him) and it just seemed to keep cycling in his brain. His negativity and anger were unprecedented and impacting all areas of his life.

I contacted his prescribing psychiatrist who suggested Intuniv. He'd been on it concurrently with Prozac in ES and then alone for a couple years in ES. We didn't notice much improvement of his ADHD symptoms but he did seem more 'settled'. He hasn't been on it for a couple years until earlier this week. He's not even at a therapeutic dose and his emotional regulation is MUCH better. DH and I are (pleasantly) surprised and relieved by the change. It's too early to tell if it's going to last but I thought it was significant enough to note on this thread. GL.

This is a problem for my ds as well. All the commons ssris make him really hyper. He is ok strattera and celexa but I think they both have stopped working. We did risperdone for a bit but my doctor was concerned to keep him on that long term

Wellbutrin usually increases anxiety, if it's present, so it's not a drug to give an anxious patient.

I'm the PP quoted. I have serious anxiety issues and Wellbutrin has lifted my depression and helped my anxiety a good deal. I am able to cut back on the brnxos that were holdinge together. Everyone is different and OP said SSRIs were not working. They did not work on me either.

Not saying it's bipolar, but too clarify: Mania can be extreme elation, but it can also be extreme agitation/irritability/aggressiveness. In fact aggressiveness is more likely to occur during a manic episode and not so much with unipolar depression or anxiety. It can also include delusions in some people.
