First things first, I have moved this thread to the correct forum.
Second, I'll let some of the previous posters speak for me:
This is not exactly how I would have put it, but there is a tremendous similarity between the travel soccer threads and the LAX threads. Not only are LAX and soccer both sports, but the posters have a lot in common. Birds of a feather and all that.
This is another important point. Regardless of the topics of the threads or how the started out, they have both gone wildly off-topic and are less private school LAX threads than simply LAX threads.
Second, I'll let some of the previous posters speak for me:
We of the Travel Soccer teams around NOVA community beg to differ. There's plenty of room for you crazy navel gazers on the Sports and Fitness forum. As a PP mentioned, even if you can't figure out how to make the jump from the Private/Independent School forum to the Sports one, you should be able to master Recent Topics with a little help. Ask one of your children to show you how.

I am one of the people who asked Jeff to move it to sports. If the thread focused on independent school LAX, that would be one thing. However it quickly deteriorates into a general LAX thread, talking about other leagues and club teams. That is why it belongs in sports. .

It is still confusing, and funny and pathetic how bothered you are by lacrosse in the private school setting. Must have really tapped into your or yours on the field failure.
The prior posters (not all lax dads) who want the thread on the private school forum just want to make sure that it continues to attract a crowd. It won't on any other forum.
I think the other posters suggestion about a sub-folder for private school sports might be a fix. Unnecessary. But that might satisfy both sides.
Not so. I complained one time...a long time ago. Not sure why you would think only one person complains. But whoever else is also speaking up, I thank them.

It comes down to this...the lax side, and yes we are per se whack jobs, love reading about and discussing lax. We also happen to be mainly private school parents and also club team parents. When it is on the sports forum, it loses energy and eventually ceases to be active. Keeping it here keeps it alive and vibrant.
The people (and I think it's actually one person in particular) wants it moved. Perhaps it is one of the people discussed on such threads (and I think Jeff has been great about deleting pure ad hominem attacks). Regardless, it is quite clear that persons goal is to hide these threads. Out of sight. Out of existence.
Of course Jeff makes the call. But if it comes down to numbers, or encouraging a sharing of information and opinions and debate, or maximum readership, it's not even a close call.
I think it is a classic case of Form v. Substance.
