I'm the PP. Did you miss the part where I said we moved to somewhere and then "will never go back?"

By that you might be able to deduct that I no longer live there.

Because the crazies come out! I hated McLean and moved away, but people freak out when I say that.

I thought that was another poster who had moved outside Detroit, not the OP. OP clearly said she moved somewhere outside the Beltway.

A neighbor asked us if we were having money problems when he found out we were moving out of McLean but staying in the area.

I've lived in DC, Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna and McLean, and McLean was by far the best in terms of overall convenience and schools, so people do tend to stick around. Although I'd never ask or make suggestions about a neighbor's finances if they said they were moving - that's just plain tacky.

Self-centered neighbor was probably concerned about the value of his property. He doesn't want someone selling via fire sale and lowering the block's comps.

lol who cares? It's an anonymous internet forum. Just hit the red x and ignore.
I am just curious about where ppl hate since DCUM already tells me all the time where they love.

Lots of possible reasons. They want to sell their home quickly so bad press won't help them? It goes against DCUM orthodoxy that schools are everything and saying anything otherwise will bring out the trolls? There are dozens of possible reasons I can think of and I'm sure many more I am not thinking of at the moment.

Where did you move from, OP?

This is me too - fortunately we moved to a super cheap area in PG County and we have to move before our daughter starts school, so there's a clock ticking on how much longer I have to endure it. Agree with the PPs that you need to give it some time and put in effort, but also agree that sometimes this is just a costly mistake we make, thinking it 'won't be so bad'.
