If the middle school is any indication, I doubt it.
Three posts in and we've gone negative. About par on here.
Well it's true.

I do too.

Is that really in dispute? Latin, BASIS, DCI are the top three MS/HS options, right?
Have you heard of SWW and Banneker? DCI can only hope to be about 5th best...in a city with pretty weak high schools. Dream big!
I def wouldn't put DCI ahead of Hardy or SH for middle quite yet. I also wouldn't put it above SWW, Banneker.
I would say right now DCI would be similar to TR, ITS, Haynes, Cap City for middle and Haynes, McKinley, and Cap City for high school.
Doesn't DCI already have students who are IB for Hardy and SH and Deal?
I'm sure. Doesn't mean DCI is a better school, just means that the family has different values. I am IB for Deal but sticking with our charter through 8th for personal preferences as well. Doesn't mean I think that overall my current Charter is better than Deal.
I'm also IB for Deal, and also considering staying at our charter until 8th -- mostly because Deal is so big and I'm not sure it's a good fit. I also like the idea of avoiding a transition during the middle schools years which are already so difficult. But, then I'm still planning to go to Wilson for HS -- is that your plan, too? I'm just worried that staying at my current Charter may make the transition to Wilson even harder since our child won't know as many people and our charter's academics aren't as competitive, which I like.

Some of us have older kids and would die for an opportunity to go to DCI (DC is not in a feeder school).

Eliot-Hine.
