GG fan here. I liked Lorelai and Rory's quirky, quick-witted dialogue and literary references. Let me duck now duck now while you throw things at me!

Thank God, I thought I was the only one. Absolutely hate this show. Lorelei is so annoying I could not bear to watch.

I want to punch her in the face.

It's the actress. I hate her on Parenthood, too. She's terrible.

Now it is all coming together! I'm one of the PP that couldn't figure why I hated GG when so many people love it and so many people thought I'd love it. I also hated Parenthood-- only tried two episodes and that was enough. I guess I just really, really hate that actress. That's weird, but I guess it happens.

I loved Gilmore girls but there are plenty of popular shows I disliked. I just did not watch them.

Because I felt left out. Everyone always talked about or referenced the show, so I thought I was missing something really great. I started to watch it and was annoyed, but was kind of curious where it went and was hopeful that it would become less annoying. And I wanted to know who Lorelai would end up with. And I wanted to watch the reboot that everyone was excited about. I am a pop culture follower.

Stop watching it and watch Dawson's Creek instead, lol. Or Felicity. Even Dawson Leery is less annoying than Lorelei.

Because these shows are inspiring "water cooler" conversations? Maybe a decade ago.

Nope, I know people who won't stop talking about them or referencing the characters. I too, thought the show much be great, until I saw one episode. Just not my thing. It's just good to hear there are others who just want to punch these characters in the throat as well.

Is Gilmore Girls inspiring water cooler conversations at work? I have heard little about it frankly. But when I admitted to coworkers that I was watching Dawson's Creek recently, it got several people reminiscing, LOL. What's the difference?

In OP's case it was b/c her circle was specifically referencing GG. And since Netflix will be airing new episodes the issue will be perpetuated a little longer.

Love GG. Can't stand Dawson's creek. Every character is so insufferable, and every minute is melodrama.

I watch because I love the characters of Paris and Emily. It is so rare to have so many strong woman characters on one show. They are flawed, yes, but it makes them more real.

Scandal, West Wing would be up there. Amy Sherman-Pallidino loves chatty characters, but so does Shondra Rhimes and Aaron Sorkin.

YES!! me too! Friends talking about how much they love it-- and Netflix pushing it based what I like. I didn't grow to hate it-- from the first episode I hated it. Very North-East, prep school, "clever" and I HATED the way Loreilei treated her parents-- especially hindering the relationship with her daughter and her grandparents. I kept trying, thinking "I must be missing something-- what exactly is wrong with me? Everyone says this is funny--- and I'm horrified . . ." Ultimately I don't think I got past more than 5 episodes.

PS, I've been meaning to post this confessional for years and just couldn't bring myself to it. thanks for listening DCUM! I do feel better knowing I'm not the only one out there blind to the charms of "Gilmore Girls".

I like you. I've posted this b/f about the show. When GG was on air, I stopped watching it around season 3 or so. I just got fed up. I admit though I got suckered back into "watching" it when it came on Netflix basically as background filler when I was alone in the house doing dishes or something. It had such promise.
