Good Lord. If you pee and poo every day you need to bathe every day. Hair gets washed also. Teeth brushed twice a day.

I'm shocked at the responses. I also change sheets twice a week, pillowcases daily.

They have great meds these days for OCD.

Same here. They wash their faces every day (and when puberty hits they wash up to three times a day). We don't wear shoes in the house. I grew up on a farm - there's a reason why farm kids have fewer allergies and stronger immune systems. We didn't bathe every day but did always remove our shoes before entering the house, changed out of school clothes when we came home and washed our hands every time we came in from the barns/fields. If our clothes were really dirty, we'd take them off on the porch.

Unless there's a medical need, changing the pillow case every day is just insane - as is changing the sheets twice a week. Or, maybe you've got more money than sense if it's your housekeeper that's doing it.

Six year old bathes every three or four days, though we've certainly gone longer and it's no big deal. We wipe him down as soon as he walks in the house during alert season though.

I only do every other day myself.

I'm the one with 3 boys who shower daily. They don't shampoo their hair everyday - only on days they have swim practice or every other day for the youngest. We don't use antibacterial soap in our house.

It is absolutely terrible for your skin and hair follicles to wash everyday. Terrible. Most high-end hair stylists say not to wash your hair more than 3x a week.

They are finally getting antibacterial crap out of soaps. The only thing over-washing does is cause allergies, auto immune diseases, eczema, leukemia, etc...

Yep, over-washing totally causes leukemia! Oh wait... you're nuts.

Many studies have been done to wonder why kids from developed nations develop leukemia 10X the rate of undeveloped countries. Why kids of SAHP are 30% more likely to have leukemia than kids in daycare. Why kids of higher SES levels are 4x more likely than kids of lower SES. All point to excessive hygiene and not allowing your bodies to accept germs and build up a good immunity. But yes, I am nuts.

2nd grader here, takes a shower Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Showers on the weekend don't happen unless he's extra dirty. If he would willingly take showers he would take more.

This part is true. Over washing is terrible for your skin and hair.

My son showers in the morning and has for years. I think it helps him wake up. He's in fifth grade.

I shower every day but only wash my hair twice a week. It's thick and healthy and simply doesn't get greasy.

My kids have very sensitive skin that dries out with too much bathing. We do twice a week, more only as needed (especially in summer).

Actually, allergists would suggest that you wash every day if you have bad seasonal allergies. Pollen gets onto your clothes, hair, skin and it has to be scrubbed off. My kids were dirty little boys when they were younger and now that they are miserable during fall/spring, we are forced to have them wash everyday. Makes a huge difference.

They have always showered or bathed once a day, except DD when she was a baby and had severe eczema. They NEED it after running around outside!
