Thanks OP! I'll post later tonight.

This was also my least favorite LL book too. I had the plot figured out too early in the book. I also though she tried too hard to make Tiffany and Vid likable despite (or to spite) any preconceived notions.

1) What did you think of the book? Did you have a favorite character?

This was my least favorite of Moriarty's books, mostly because of the extremely long suspension of What Happened, but also because I couldn't find much to like of any of the characters. If I had to pick one, I'd say Tiffany was my favorite because she was so harshly misjudged but had the most "good" in her heart. But really, all of them were just a little too exaggerated and formulaic.

2) What did you think of Clementine and Erika's relationship

I thought it was too unrealistic. No one could maintain that kind of relationship with so hostility.

3) What did you think of the neighbor character? Was it pointless? Did you enjoy learning about this character?

Unfortunately, no. The story painted him as such a nuisance for so long that by the time it got around to revealing his background, I still saw him as nothing but a nuisance. I think there's some value in learning how a person's history and small decisions that have a big impact can change a trajectory, but I just didn't care enough about any of the characters or their outcomes.

The most fun I had with this book is looking for all the elements that show up in every one of Moriarity's stories: country music/Elvis, preoccupation with lagging sex in marriage... I can't even remember the others, because the book was so unmemorable compared to others.

OP here. Bumping up to get last minute readers. If you aren't joining this time around, I'll be posting a survey to choose the next book after the conclusion of the discussion on this current book. I will start a NEW thread with the survey around October 16.

I'm in! Thanks for organizing OP.

I hope everyone saves their snark for the book or its characters, not the person who organized the book club!

Til Oct 9...

That's a stroke of luck. It's hot or miss as to whether you'll find what you want in that section.

I'm number 80 on the library wait list. So not likely to happen by Oct 9.

OP here! I wanted to choose a book I thought most people haven't read yet or have read recently. I will try and make sure paperbacks are a part of the next book selection.

If you are a Barnes & Noble Member they have double the normal membership discount running through tomorrow.

I checked it out at the library. Even if a book has a long waitlist, MoCo libraries have a new release section that can't be held for other patrons. The new books also can't be renewed, so you have to read the book in the three week time frame.

I rarely buy any books. MCPL is a great resource.
