Elizabeth Gilbert has written extensively about her decision to not have children. I think she reveals why she is the type person who can't have children but also her life follows the course of someone who is forever free to indulge their own interests. I think this is particularly eye roll inducing to a parent in the thick of it but on some level I think she is a bit like all of us but just a lot less contained . She seems to own that.

Totally agree! Her piece about her choice to have a natural birth was so freaking melodramatic.

Ugh, effing barf. This woman is disgusting and a narcissist to the core. When someone tells me their favorite book (or worse, MOVIE) is Eat, Pray, Love, it takes everything I have not to high-five their face. Also, I lose all respect and think they must be an idiot.

I didn't read the book or see the movie (even though Julia Roberts is my person). I did see Liz Gilbert on Oprah and thought... "wow. she doesn't seem very likable!"

When I read about her "awakening" and subsequent divorce, I just thought she wants people to think she's some kind of martyr and LGBT champion all rolled into one. Like killing two birds with one stone.

She does seem quite insufferable. Her husbands are lucky.

I normally like her but this just sounds nuts. She doesn't want to be a writer, she wants to be a tragic romance figure in a book. her friend is dying which is tragic but why on earth is she breaking up her own marriage? She is addicted to drama.

I hate her. She's a spoiled compulsive cheater (she prettied up the language when she came out about in the NYTimes) with cold reptilian eyes. Hopefully she can stay faithful for as long as her girlfriend lives.
