it's possible the pill ulcerated your esophagus. You might want to tell doctor b/c it could scar and the scar might have to be stretched. BTDT with an advil.

I started Zoloft because of postmenopausal anxiety that caused the recurrence of PTSD from childhood DV.

Zoloft is NOT junk. It is amazing - no more nightmares, no more hypervigilence! My DH coming to bed after I've fallen asleep doesn't trigger a fight or flight response in me (which was as disturbing to him as it was to me).

Yes, I had to learn how to take the Zoloft - first time I took it on an empty stomach, I had horrible acid reflux for 3 days. But it's been incredible and as long as I take it correctly, I have no negative side effects.

FWIW, I've always been a champion pill taker, including being able to dry swallow.

It also doesn't say that I shouldn't take it while standing on my head. Guess what happened when I tried that. There should be a warning.

I take a sip or two of chilled aloe juice before taking meds. Once I feel the cold go from my throat to the belly, only then I will take a mouthful of water and put the pill in my mouth and swallow it. Follow immidiately with water and finish with...you guessed it...a couple sips of aloe juice.

Note to everyone who reads this: don’t dry swallow pills!!!!

I dry swallow my Zoloft every night. I just make sure to tilt my head back. I think once it did get stuck and it was because I was bending forward right when taking it. Lots of water and several Tums, and the discomfort was gone within a few hours.
