They only do it at schools where they can live up to the guarantee for at least a few years. I'm not sure Payne has the physical space.

Ten DCPS schools have early action guaranteed PK3 slots. All are Title 1 except Van Ness but every Title 1 school doesn't have the program.

^^ Also IBers are guaranteed spots at Miner for PK3/4, so it's easier to get "future" parents invested.

Miner is also on the upswing -- at least at the ECE level. A whole cohort of IB high SES kids started PK3 last year, the vast majority stayed for PK4 this year and quite a few are planning to stay for K next year. The parents the kids in that year are SUPER involved -- to the point that several joined the PTA & got elected to positions in it the year before their kids started. The new PK3 is even more diverse than last year's and the principal is great, so I think there is every reason to be optimistic.

We have kids at Maury but live close to Miner, where many neighbors have their kids. They all work and are probably not on these boards a whole lot. But they are all very happy with the school, facilities, teachers, leadership and all.
