We dropped it. Nfl is about the only thing we (he) misses.

1. We tried sling for a few months. I was like "honey! They have sports! I'll sign us up!" And... Turns out just ESPN, which now I know hardly shows actual sports. Ha ha. They *may* have a sports add-on option. Look it up.
2. During that time, DH just watched on antenna or online. Antenna doesn't work awesome but did give us Fox. (We have mohu leaf).) And some games stream online? I guess.
3. Eventually dropped sling. Between Amazon prime, occasional redbox, and library rentals, we're pretty good. Recently our fam gave us a login for their cable. We use it sometimes for specfic shows that we'd really miss. TNT show (basketball on there too!), and occasional bravo/bachelor show. Honestly, I'd be fine without those anyway.

We have verizon and it isn't much cheaper to have only internet vs cable without added sports, hbo etc. We have 2 cable boxes and 165ish channels and our bill including internet is about $100 including all taxes and fees. We just renewed for another 2 years at the same price.

I have high-speed internet (105 mbps called blast!) with Comcast (the only provider in my area, apparently). It was $55/month until last month when it went up to $62/month.

$100/month is good for all that. What speed internet does that include?

It is 50/50 internet.

"Our HD antenna arrived yesterday. Setting it up today. We have a smart tv and stream Netflix and Amazon. I think we will survive.

Also want to do this. Would you mind sharing which antenna you purchased?

Not PP but I've had the Mohu Leaf HD Indoor Antenna for several years. It's the best seller on Amazon."

Curious - why the need for the antenna. Does your TV not have one, or is it insufficient?

We have sling tv, Hulu, Amazon Prime. My problem with Sling is that you have to watch the shows live, you can't record them. This is a problem for my sports obsessed son who isn't going to stay up watching live games. Also, the sports are limited. Some games aren't available (some of the Nats games). Still looking for a good sports option.

Just curious as to what he uses to incorporate Kodi. Firestick? PC?

Not PP but does anybody have answer to this?

I believe you have to watch live. We use NHL network & MLB network--and use unblockus to get out of the blackout for local games. Then you can watch whenever--for those sports, at least.

Playstation Vue (which is similar to Sling Tv) does let you record shows to watch later.

It felt so good to tell Comcast to eff off.

We just dropped cable and now use Playstation Vue with Fire TV. Saving lots of $ and still get all of the channels we watch. Great deal

Anonymous wrote:How do you like Kodi? Been reading up on it, but haven't pulled the trigger. Can you watch everything you want once you have the addons? How is the quality of the HD shows/movies?

So far it works well. Quality of video is decent including some HD.

I have it downloaded on my pc and I cast it to my tv. Just about all tv programs and movies are available and they are pretty current as well.

The biggest hurdle for most people is it is not user friendly - less of an issue for me because I am fairly tech savvy but I can see it being a challenge for the average individual who has average computer skills.

There are other ways of accessing Kodi such as through an Amazon Firestick that has been loaded with Kodi and the add ons. I don't know if the firestick and similar are more user friendly.

FYI, I still have cable and was checking out Kodi to see if it would be a viable alternative once my current contract with FIOS expires.

If Sling gets Comcast Sports Net for Capitals hockey, I may be able to kick Verizon Fios to the curb!

Check their website! You can either get ESPN or CSN/NBCSports for $20-25, or both for $40. DH is a big Wizards fan (yes, they exist) and wouldn't drop cable until he knew he could watch their games.

Does Sling TV show all Caps games?? Their website says CSN is coming soon.
