To be short AND not interested in sports is like 2 strikes against a boy.

The only sport he likes is swimming, which we encourage, but honestly, most of the kids on his swim team are either female or older, [u]so it doesn't really help with socializing or feeling differently about his height.
He started rowing last year. The men's rowing team sometimes uses a girl as the coxswain b/c they can't find a boy small enough. The team loves him and now he has a bunch of big guys to keep an eye on him in school in case anyone wants to tease him. Those rowers are BIG!Do you think your child is being bullied?

I don't see how he's disadvantaged at any sport besides basketball and football -- and even those in 2nd grade will be fine; it's not like he's trying to make high school varsity or get recruited to a D1 school.
Yep. My second born little son is a soccer phenom. He even plays up in age--on top travel team. Going into 4th grade. He has super self-esteem and doesn't even seem aware most kids are taller---or he doesn't give a shit. Lots of friends, not shy. Filled with 'tude.
He waivers between 16-20% height.
His older brother two years older is 85% height.
OP here. I feel like maybe I wasn't clear. I don't think he is not great at sports because of his height. He is just a kid who happens to be both (1) short and (2) not especially athletic. These are two things that are difficult for a boy.

HGH is not going to make someone who would naturally be short become tall. It got Lionel Messi to all of 5'7". It would not be a prudent choice for a boy in the short range of normal.
Messi took HGH???
