Did you eat the chicken at Chic-Fil-A? Did it make you sick since you hadn't eaten meat in so long, or were you OK?

This is bunk. I was a veg*n for 11 years and my first meat was delicious ribs- felt fantastic!!!

I've been a vegetarian for over 15 years but went to Chick-Fil-A three times during pregnancy. I never told anyone.

I craved potatoes throughout my first pregnancy. Any kind of potato - baked, fried, broiled, mashed, boiled, whatever.

I craved celery through my second pregnancy, which was weird, because I hate celery.

Ha ha, same here. So many people asked if I would 'still' be a vegetarian during both of my pregnancies. Hm well I haven't eaten meat in 25 years, I'm certainly not craving it since I don't even remember what it tastes like.

like sombody said, craving have nothing to do with remembering tastes. in both my pregnancies, i craved beer. i am a teetotaler and never drank beer in my life.

I'm not a total teetotaler (I maybe drink three times a year), but when I'm pregnant wine, beer, mixed drinks - it all sounds amazing. I have no idea why.

NOBODY'S commented on this yet?! C'mon people, "if you're gonna do something wrong, do it right!"

Thank you!!

I don't eat red meat, but I craved bacon during pregnancy.

I was vegan and then vegetarian for 16 years. When I was about 10 weeks pregnant with my twins, I woke up one morning desperate for a hamburger. I also craved and ate a ton of roasted chicken. I haven't gone back to being vegetarian. I do try to limit myself to pasture-raised animals (although I recognize that there is no such thing as humane slaughter). Ethically I wish I could go back to being vegetarian, but I feel so much better eating meat.

Her body needs protein. Protein and fat are what brains grow from.

Yep. My relatively clean living SIL seriously craved Scotch and cigarettes. OP your sister should consider herself lucky.

Pregnant women who crave eating dirt or laundry detergent aren't "remembering a time long ago when they ate dirt". They crave it.

I was a meat eater who couldn't DEAL with the smell or texture of meat for the first 15 weeks or so with my first. So? I couldn't eat it. I ate what my body told me to during pregnancy.

So, do you think people whose bodies are craving laundry detergent should eat what their bodies tell them to?

No, I think that they should pay attention to their craving and seek to find the underlying cause of their pica with a medical professional. They aren't eating it because of some past memory. That's ridiculous.

Veg here too, and no meat cravings. But I can't get enough cilantro. It's such a weird thing to be craving but at this point I'm eating it like it's an actual vegetable. At least it's easy to grow.

+1. I become a vegetarian during the first trimester.
