If you have a job that was in existence 200 years ago chances are you could be happy doing it.

Jobs that help people or create something have real satisfaction; jobs that make nothing but paperwork or administration seem like it would be hard to derive satisfaction.

Being in a sea of mid level information workers doing menial administration was soul crushing; now I make things and couldn't be happier, I need to be told to go home.

I make around double that at the day job.

Wow that is way more than I ever thought someone could make on there while still holding down a day job. What sort of things do you sell, do you make them yourself entirely? How many hours per week do you put in?

Curious: what company?

Not answering - too identifying.

What was your work history before getting this job?

Did you have to do all the lean six sigma green belt black belt crap?

Eh not really but I have taken a few courses. Mostly just have a strength with numbers and excel.

Finance major in college (no MBA). I worked for a lender before. No real formal training all self taught but basically I just happen to have an ability to navigate things and see through the crap to effect real change.

I'm curious about this - I'm a linguist too and have not seen any jobs at this level of pay. May be the difference between critical and non-critical languages. I'd love to hear more if you can without revealing too much personal information.

College professor, 70k. I don't love the salary, but it's the right job for me. I love the autonomy, my research, my interactions with students.

Me! But I've loved every single job I've ever had since I was 14 and working at a concession stand selling hot dogs to my job today (GS-15 working for the government on national security issues). I feel like loving your job doesn't just depend on the job (I've had probably at least 15 jobs over the years, all of which I have loved) but your attitude/outlook.

On average, how many hours a week do you spend on your Etsy business?
