My DH calls me every day at lunch. And once on his way home. I randomly text him pictures of salsa and peanut butter because he hates the smell of both. It makes him laugh. 16 years together.

We don't. Both work in pretty closed environments. We send emails to coordinate. When we first met there were a lot of lovey dovey emails. I saved them all.

Married 11 years. Talk for 5 minutes mid day each work day at the same time. It's not a lovey Dovey thing (though it's nice to hear his voice), we just talk about how our days are going and what the after school plans are. Didn't think of it as an odd thing.

I usually call DH during lunch to see how his day is going and see how kids were at drop off, or discuss any plans for the evening. I leave for work really early-often before he or the kids are up so sometimes he'll call me in the morning after they're up but before he drops them off at school. The morning phone calls are usually to ask about something or because the kids want to talk to me because they didn't see me that morning.

Same here. I'm super busy all day, mainly because I only work 8hrs and maximize every second.

Neither DH nor I are phone people. We text whenever there's something important one of us needs to know and it can't wait until he gets home from work. I always figure I'll see him soon when he gets home, so there's no need to bother him at work usually.

We talk everyday and have lunch together once every two weeks.

But we are divorcing now after 20 years, oh well.

Op here, glad to hear that I am not the only one who enjoys these calls. We both have busy jobs, so it still feels absurdly indulgent when it happens. We have been married 8 yrs. It's the only time we dont get interrupted by kids and can finish a sentence, even if only for three minutes.

We do check ins. But. But. But. Maybe I'd miss them if he didn't call me, but they just irritate me sometimes. 98% of the time, I mean.

I have a busy job. So does my wife. Unless the kid is sick. Don't call me. I'll listen to all your crap when I get home.

That's nice, dear.

I think if it works for the both of you, our opinions don't matter.

What would you all think if you heard someone being berated for calling their spouse at an inconvenient time during the day?

Just curious because I overheard this a couple of times and it was awkward.

Is this ridiculous? He likes the calls when schedule allows, but I don't notice this in other couples habits, at least that I can tell. is this something that other couples do?

My DH of just over a year and I try to talk for 5-10 minutes at lunchtime. He's left for work when I wake up, and then he gets home 5-6 hours before I do, so it's nice to touch base. He can't have his phone at his desk, so it's time for us to catch up, etc. Today he told me a funny thing the cat did this morning, I asked if he could pull the laundry out of the dryer when he gets home and put it away, and he relayed details of a dentist appt he scheduled this morning.

Yes. My husband always calls me around lunch time to say hi. I adore it!
