Specifically, the military has not caught up to the reality of single or two parent working families and still operates in a 1950s paradigm that the spouse and family follows and manages the home. However, its not as if they have increased salary for the military spouse who works and some benefits (like daycare) have been reduced. Their job placement is also stuff like commissary shifts (nothing against people who seek those shifts) but it does not acknowledge professional spouses at all. And, the modern world has evolved and many military spouses be they male.or female work..I was hoping with eight years of a democratic president and their stated support for military families there would be acknowledgment and progress there.. Obama has transformed the military in so many ways, but definitely not to make it easier for there to be what are typical non military working moms, sometimes dads, as in this title.

I'm conservative and I think there room for a substantive conversation about daycare in America. It aligns with my family values and wanting people to be able to choose life and get ahead to have access to quality daycare when their children are most vulnerable. I agree with Hillary Clinton on raising this. I do find it strange that under this democratic president our military daycare subsidy (not full cost - just a few 100 to bridge gap to the incredibly costly quality daycare in this area for this who cannot use or find space in base daycare - a lot of people) was quietly dropped and not renewed.

SAH lady, I have no clue who YOUR husband's friends are, but my husband and his friends don't think this way (white, black, Asian, you name it). Maybe it's b/c we all work, which means there's the assumption that some form of daycare is part of the schedule.
