Usually whoever asked for the first date, pays. When the relationship progresses, people take turns.

But usually it's a good idea to keep first dates modest in terms of money and time investment. Go out for coffee. If you end up not liking her (or him), it's like half an hour and 10 bucks. Easy.

The guy pays period. Doesn't matter whether you see it going somewhere or not.

Agreed. Are you bringing your team of lawyers on the date with you? Who cares if you did the "right" thing by someone you don't care for?

FWIW, if you do care about her feelings...telling all of your friends how boring she was and how awful of a date she was seems so much worse than asking her for $20 to cover her share of the bill.

That's passive aggressive beta male shit. You said she offered to pay but didn't mean it. Well don't say what you don't mean. Just tell her to pay her portion and be done with it. I can appreciate she said it was bad date and wanted to give it another shot, but she brought it up again.

People that lack manners show their class and lack of up bringing. Like letting the woman go first in the restaurant when being shown to your table. Pulling out her chair, opening the car door. If you don't know about picking up the tab, you shouldn't be dating and need to be in Manners class 101.

Well my son is only in HS but I tell him to discuss this in advance of the date. It's funny because what people tend to say is that if the male is the inviter, he pays and if the woman is, they split. I think that's a ridiculous standard. I've also taught mine that it's fine to pay when you care about someone and want to do something nice.
