I wouldn't even be close to feeling annoyed.

OP, I hope you're the one with the newborn in this scenario, not the crazy person with the six month old.

No. I wouldn't even care if it was the same exact name, unless it was something incredibly unique.

Husband's nephew? Not even the same name? Pretty low on the name-stealing totem pole I would say

You've got a right to any feelings you have, always. However, feeling annoyed isn't going to do you any good and if I were you I would want to get over that unpleasant feeling so it doesn't color family interactions.

We have a Morgan and a Megan in the family... both girls, first cousins. Not quite as similar, but close. The girls are older now, and neither minds a bit. Try to forget about it, or if you can't dismiss it as unimportant, try to see it as flattering. Clearly, they liked your baby's name.

I'm Jennifer. Everyone has my name. It's all good.

My aunt has 4 daughters. They all live within like a 2 mile radius and see each other ALL the time. 3 of them have children named:

Christopher
Crystal
and
Kristen

Yes, they go by Chris, Crys, and Kris.

No one cares. I'm just surprised the 4th didn't name one Krystiana or something.

If they're both super unusual names and you see these folks all the time, I can imagine it being a little weird... especially if they didn't give you the heads up. If either or both are common names and/or you rarely see these folks, then I think your reaction is bizarre. Either way, not something to get upset over.

So, your cousin is supposed to pick another name because you "own" that name? Do you know how many other people have this name already? There are probably a few adult versions of your daughter's name out there. Should they be annoyed that you used their name? If you google first and last name you will be surprised how popular some names are...I agree 100 per cent with all the other posters who say you can be annoyed but, you shouldn't be immature and get over it.

Nah it's not a big deal. Maybe you should have chosen a less cookie cutter of a name.

I can see a twinge of "that's weird" when you first find out. That's it, though.
