I would definitely not want to share a room with my parents, EVER, but I think it's odd you single out your dad as a reason. Did something happen?

As for the strangeness of you sharing your room with your dad...hmmm...I'm not sure about that but I didn't grow up with my dad around so I don't have the normal father/daughter relationship.

But I do have a BIL who travels with MIL somewhat frequently. He's 40, still travels with her and they share hotel rooms. Hate to say it but I do think it's strange and just want to say to MIL "and you wonder why he doesn't date".

Get your own room, for your kids' sake. No one wants to be super crowded and listening to snoring!

Totally depends on your family. My family tends more towards wanting personal space. Since I was in college I would always get my own hotel room, as would my parents and sister. I share a 2 bedroom suite wih my mom sometimes, but if my DH or step dad is also along, we would probably get two suites. My dad and step mom? Would never share a room with them. My dad is way more into personal space. They stay in a hotel when they come visit instead of our guest room.

My DH's family is opposite. His parents and two brothers all piled into his tiny studio when we were first dating, he was 30. It was totally normal for them and everyone was fine and comfortable. My family is just not like that at all, which is also fine!

It's helpful to get a suite or connecting room when traveling with parents and your kids. That way the kids can go to bed and the adults can stay up. I don't understand the issue with sharing with your father. I see no difference between a mom and a dad. They are both your parents. Just because your father is a different gender doesn't mean you should feel uncomfortable around him....it's your dad. He raised you and took care of you. He has seen you in your pjs before! He has even seen you naked! The horror. I guess I just have a good relationship with my dad...

Airbnb is great for families. Get a 2 bedroom apt for about the same price as one hotel room.
