A neighbor told them about a cat fitting the description 20 MONTHS later, and it was their cat. He had some health problems after that, but he never went near the outside doors again.

We lost our indoor Brooklyn cat for a week. Put out food every day, called his name. Put up signs, etc. A neighbor told me to look for him at dusk. I did that and I actually saw him in the vacant lot next to our apartment building. It turned out he had been cowering behind our building between two layers of cyclone fence. So I echo sentiments: they stay close to home.

We have a five month old kitten now who is obsessed with going outside. We don't let him, but I'm pretty sure it is just a matter of time.

I came here to say my cousin's indoor cat came back SIX WEEKS later!!

I'm the OP and wanted to provide an update. Our kitty came home late last night!!!

I'm 20:39 and we just found ours after two hours of searching, calling his name etc. He was in the yard next door. I think for indoor cats, they do tend to hunker down close by

I lost mine too this week, Op and this thread is giving me some hope. He was lost in Kensington Estates, MD and is black/tan medium to long hair maine coon.
