I agree OP, I've got a fat footed 2.5 yo and stride rite is one of the few that makes wide. So frustrating!
Except that a regular Tsukihoshi or Keen is wider than a wide Stride Rite.

I totally disagree with this. I have boys who are very hard on shoes. The Sauconys, the trail runner model, they currently wear have been terrific, much better than SR and Nike that they've had in the past. I plan on getting them another pair (bought the current ones from Amazon) for summer.
