Different kids.. some shows the same... others differ. So

Both:
Christly Knows Best, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, Black-ish, Containment mini-series, periodically AFV

DD 11:
Dance Moms, House Hunters, Property Brothers, etc. and with my husband she watches a lot of cooking shows, restaurant rescue shows, etc.

DS 12:
Fear the Walking Dead with me and the Star Wars computer animated series with my husband

They also both watch shows together that I may or may not watch with them such as The Amazing World of Gumball, the cartoon with the blue bird and the raccoon, clarence,

We aren't big TV watchers, but we do watch Gilmore Girls, The Avengers (TV series), Doctor Who and Dance Academy with our 13 y/o DD. We especially love Dance Academy, which is a very well-done Australian series. On Hulu and Amazon, maybe on Netflix, too. We are trying to see all of the Gilmore Girls episodes before the reboot starts in the fall.

We watch the first 3 as well. also Black-ish

We watch the kids baking competition shows. Also if you have amazon, Just Add Magic was a cute show

omg Breaking Bad??????? But the sex scenes in other shows are too graphic? Dude, Breaking Bad involves a lot of violence and inappropriate trauma for a tween -- stop showing that to your young kid!

Friday Night Lights is a great show, though it did involve high schoolers having sex. Though I have vowed that someday I will watch My So Called Life with my high school daughter (she's only in elementary school now).


+1 Dh and I stopped watching Breaking Bad because it got too graphic/violent for us! Can't imagine watching it with a tween or even teen.

I look forward to watching FNL with my kids, but probably not starting that until they are in high school.

Content is also not appropriate for a tween. The storylines are a bit too adult. t Once Upon a Time is probably also too adult. (OUT also stars Jennifer Morrison, who I loathe as an actress.)

(I was really bummed when I previewed Angie Tribeca that it put in a lot of unnecessary flipping the bird type stuff that pushed over the line what was mostly goofy, slapstick comedy.)

Growing up, we could watch as a family shows like Good Times, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, the Carole Burnet Show, and even some dramas like Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere.

What current TV shows do you watch with your tween or anticipating any new shows being a good fit for the tween audience?

(Anything other than reality shows and Full House does not appeal in the least.)


The Flash is really great. If your kid liked Galavant, he/she would probably enjoy the Flash.

Dr. Who is amazing and is just right for that age group. It's all available on Netflix and there is a ton of it.
