I don't think this is normal. My other friend who is late 30's and is married to a multimillionaire in the North East has a 25 - 30k ring. So I agree it's not normal to want a 150k ring.

If that's how she feels that's how she feels. I don't think it's reasonable but who cares? If she can find a guy who is willing to meet her demands more power to her.

Boy, these celebrities were ripped off. It takes more than a huge diamond to actually make jewelry pretty. A rock on a band is just a rock on a band.

Even among the wealthiest Americans, that would be excessive. It probably wouldn't even be a wearable piece of jewelry. However, she's probably just using a creative way of saying there isn't a big enough diamond on the planet for her to get married. If she did want to get married, she probably will need to lower her standards quite a bit.

Life can be unpredictable. When choosing a life partner, look for the kind of person who will lovingly and faithfully remain by your side for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part. Does she seem like that kind of person?

That's close to my annual income as well. I wouldn't spend more than 15k on a ring.

If I have money (lottery winner), I would spend $150k on an engagement ring, but definitely not for her.
