It's a terrible name in my opinion. But I think the bigger issue is that you found a Biblical family name for your first child but for your second you're contemplating a weird name that has no connection to your family and begs instruction for how to pronounce it. Don't. It's just unfair. Dig into your family tree and find something for your new baby or at least pick a solid Biblical name. And why are you determined that it be an "R" name?

I like Rigel a lot and I am well aware it's a star in Orion. I would never consider pronouncing incorrectly. I wouldn't instantly think about Star Trek but I would think you were astronomy buffs. If you aren't interested in studying up on your constellations, maybe you should go ahead and consider a more conventional name.

FWIW, my first two have biblical names but my 3rd does not. It just went that way.

Sorry - I just don't like that name at all. Yes, I associate it with the name of a star and the show. If you want to go with an R name, how about Rohan. Love that name.

I put Rigel into nymbler and got the following 'similar name' suggestions: Talon, Ace, Phoenix, Apollo, Loyal, Caesar, Hawk, Altair, Ranger, Baron. Some pretty weird names but some kind of cool. Also searched for names similar to Reuben, thinking Reuben is your older sons name? And got: Asa, Judah, Asher, Amos, Cyrus, and Elam among tons of other more common biblical names like Samuel and David. Just in case any of those interest you, op. Nymbler is kind of a fun website to generate a lot of name suggestions based on names you plug in.

The only biblical boy names that start w r that i can think of are Reuben and Rufus. Op, is it one of those? I don't like Rigel...it seems like it would always be an issue for ppl to pronounce and he'd always have to be answering questions about the names meaning and origin his whole life. I have a name that elicits those questions and I hated it so much as a kid and still get annoyed by it occasionally as an adult. I agree boy names are hard especially when you already used your favorite one but I would keep looking if I were you...
