Op, I don't think you would know a car was a lemon by 600 miles. It would likely take longer and more driving to figure that out. So you are probably ok.

My DH just bought one with 1700 miles on it that had been the dealers loaner car. It's basically brand new and cost $10k less than if brand spamming new

I bought a car with 1200 miles on it. Used...hadn't even been titled to a person previously. The company used it for executives.

Maybe the former owner died?

I say it could have been repossessed from someone who couldn't afford the monthly car payment.
If that is truly the case, have the vehicle inspected by a trustworthy mechanic to make sure no intentional damage was done to it.

The dealer can. Just ask?

I got a 2014 model at a big discount in Sept 2014 with 1000 miles and a tiny scratch (we park in lots so that didn't bother me). Dealer said it was repoed. It has been great.

But I do find myself wondering about the previous owner. The dealer says the previous owner (an individual, not a company) bought the car March 1st and that he traded it in around April 9th. I am just being nosy!

What kind of warranty did you get and what was the dealer invoice? There appears to have been an updated 2016.5 model released in January.

How do you know what the dealer invoice was?

OP again. This is a 2016.5 model, and it came with the factory warranty (3 yrs/36k miles; 5 years/60k miles powertrain), which kicked in March 1, when the original owner purchased the car.

Occasionally someone buys a car and trades it in almost immediately - moves, didn't test it and didn't realize they couldn't fit car seats in it, loses a job, finds out they're expecting twins, etc.
