OP, we need the context. Did you deserve an eye roll? Are you over-controlling? Don't insist on controlling your teenager's life but then complain when they don't like it. You wouldn't like it either.

Thanks for this thread! I too fantasize about boarding school, military school, the military....
Just this morning my DD rolled her eyes at the eggs I'd made for her, said they looked awful, she definitely wasn't eating THAT, and then went on to make "edible" eggs for herself. (I guess the last bit is good).

Today was actually a relatively OK day.

Love this thread! If it's any consolation, DS is now 17 and has apologized for being an a$$hole when he was 14-15. He really was one, too.

Funny you ask. Three years ago, before my kids were full on "teens" I houseda 17 year old exchange student. She was the rudest, most negative, plain evil girl. It was not my perspective or cultural difference. Stupid was the word of every minute, and everybody was stupid, America, food, me, my kids were ugly, she even went ton to say that she will always get her way and I should just do and take her where she wants to go, her Dad was stupid peasant, her mother was now fat, her sister was ugly..... So I called my mom and I sincerely apologized for ever being a teenager. I really did it.


Note to Self: No Exchange Students. Ever.

OP here. None taken. In the grand scheme of things, DS is a really great kid, as I'm sure most of our kids are. But HOO BOY, sometimes....

The sudden and regular aggression is bad enough. But I have to say that it really pushes my buttons first thing in the morning. She's on the war path as soon as her feet hit the floor. We all just woke up for heaven's sake!
