Put the ergo on before you get out of the car, and then like the poster right below you mentioned...loosen the straps, put baby in, tighten straps.


So I put the insert in before the baby too? At home I lay the baby into the insert and then put the whole thing into the ergo. Maybe I have to wait until she's bigger to attempt ergo from the car thing.


Lay the insert on the front seat, take the baby out of the car seat, lay her in the insert, pick up the insert and put her in the ergo.

If you do decide on the regular ol stroller basket, if you're in a bind with too much, you may be able to bring your load o stuff up to the front and empty it onto a checkout (explaining how you need them to 'hold' it for a few minutes) then go grab the last few things. Depending on your store and if it's not busy.

I use the Snugli which fastens above the hip/near baby's leg so no contorting yourself trying to latch the clips in the back.

I also couldn't fasten the Ergo and then DS wouldn't stand it. Just used the stroller basket. We have an UppaBaby Cruz and I could fit an entire week's worth of groceries in the basket.

Also, if you need more food then the stroller basket can carry, you can use carribeaners and fasten the canvas grocery bags to the handle of your stroller.

We were given a shopping cart cover which had thicker padded straps -- some even have shoulder straps -- which could work for a wobbly sitter.

Heavy stuff in the stroller basket, light stuff would be in a grocery bag hanging from the stroller handle via a caribiner.

Not everyone's kid will deal with being in a carrier.

Good umbrella stroller - push with one hand, pull the shopping cart. It took practice but not bad when you get the hang of it.

I put some big stuff on the top (paper towels, diapers, bottled water, etc.) I have also been known to have my child get out of the stroller to walk home (we live above a safeway) so I can put even more stuf in the seat!

I either wore the baby or used the stroller basked. I have an UBV so the basket is huge. I could get almost a weeks worth of groceries.

You can also fold your umbrella stroller and put it in the cart, then add groceries. Put baby in the front of the cart with a blanket wadded up around her for extra stability.

Honestly, I switched to Instacart/Google Express/Amazon for the months when the baby was really little. When he was big enough to sit in the shopping cart, I started going to grocery stores again.

What I have done which is not easy but can be done when you need a lot of stuff (more than can fit in a stroller basket or hand basket) is to push the stroller w one hand and pull a full size grocery cart w the other.
