Check out around the Forest Glen metro too. The schools are really good. There are some pretty affordable options.

Kingman Park is quiet provided you are 1-2 blocks away from Benning Road.

Yep! Take the X3 bus directly to Galludet and NoMa. Or hop across the river to the super quiet river terrace neighborhood, which is also on the X3 line.


This is a good suggestion, especially if OP has preschool age kids and would be able to take advantage of DC's free PK3 and PK4. Is Kingman Park really "quiet", though? I have friends who live right around Benning Rd and there is a lot of hanging out at night, people walking around yelling to each other, etc.

Look along the Marc train line which goes to Union station. The NoMa station is one metro stop from Union station.
