Well until that happens, the "overpriced" coffee profits are going straight to the company. They could raise salaries right now, but they aren't.

Of course we should tip. If we are fortunate enough in this world to be able to buy $5 coffees, we are fortunate enough to give a tip to those people who can't do it as much as we can.

I am not 100% sure that the barista didn't have several other reasons to ask you that, yet, you only see one.
Nobody wants to deal with coins. I would've asked only dollars back, not the change.

I tip them always because the one I go to they are beyond kind.

They know every repeat customer's name. They have protected minorities when Trumpers were god awful during the pandemic and still are. They have gone out of their way to be kind humans always.

Yes, I go every day so I know the ones at mine.

I stopped at the Starbucks in my grocery store the other day, ordered 2 drinks and 2 cake pops. Barista asked me if I wanted my $3 change back or not!! I was so flummoxed I said it was fine, but I thought it was completely bizarre. I will usually put a dollar in the tip jar, especially since covid, but wth?!

This is...completely different than going into Starbucks periodically. I think it's nice, and this is not the experience that Starbucks or any other chain offers.

Starbucks is also paying for your school among other good benefits for a job that has minimal requirements. As long as you're breathing, you can work at Starbucks.

I'm fine not tipping and getting the experience of them making the drink I asked them to make and paying for it.

You say hand crafted like it’s rocket science.

When in reality you get paid to pour some milk, froth it, add espresso and some flavoring, top it with whipped cream, and drizzle some syrup on it.

For $15 bucks an hour.

No tip necessary.

I used to work at Starbucks. Years ago and way before the app. People were fairly generous with their tips. The manager would pool the tips and you would get a percentage based on the hours you worked. It often added a dollar or two to each hour I worked.

I used to tip at Starbucks in person and then via the app. Now, the app doesn't seem to prompts me anymore and I don't see a space for tips (at least on my app) so I don't. I do tip when I go into independent places.
