Of course it's nasty to use the same mop head in kitchen and bathroom. Just got housekeeping job in retirement complex. That is why I'm asking, I would never do this at home. Proud germaphobe. Some residents DO leave fecal matter all over the floor, then we go mop their kitchen or vice versa. That's just pure laziness not to use different mops and water.

I have a separate mop for the kitchen and the bathrooms. I also have a mop that I specifically use on my hardwoods.

I would never use the kitchen mop in the bathroom nor would I use those mops on the hardwoods. I use a special hardwood cleaner on the hardwoods.

I use a swifter mop so the pad gets changed each time. It gets expensive but it’s effective

I don't. Well, I'm not sure if it's really needed so but I prefer to have one separate mop for each room. After all, there's no difficulty in having more than only one. But I have a mopping robot which moves across my flat without limitation. It was hard to choose it. Your bathroom floor is not clean. For those wipes to disinfect you need to use enough wipes to wet the floors thoroughly and for it to stay wet for 10 minutes. They really aren't the quick clean that they advertise.

My former SIL used to use windex and a paper towel because then the floor was shiny. I guess "clean" didn't matter.


I just looked at my Chlorox wipes to disinfect they say the floor should be wet for 4 minutes. I feel confident that my small floor remains damp for that long. And I am not exactly eating off of it anyways..


I guess Chlorox is better than Lysol. Lysol is 10 minutes to disinfect.

Actually, I have solved the problem by having two cleaners at my house. One comes one week and uses the mop on the kitchen. She then tosses it into the washer with Clorox and lets it air dry on a special drying rack I have set up in the inglenook. The second cleaner comes the next week, removes the mop head from the special drying rack set up in the inglenook and uses it to mop the bathroom floors. She repeats the same process so it is ready for the kitchen the next week. I'm not sure why this is so difficult.
