Four national merit finalists
I'm not sure how many national Achievement Scholars in the past (the NMS for black students) but the program transitioned over to the UNCF as of 2015
Only 4? MoCo is around ~160.

Why don't you look that up and let us know?
Because the typical PG basher doesn't really know much about the county. They "just know" everything sucks, they've never been there and get their information about the county by reading headlines and hearing radio sound bites but never actually read the articles. Especially here on DCUM where the number of MoCk and NoVa posters is high.
Once you''ve read DCUM for a while, you''ll recognize the type that regularly respond reflexively out of ignorance.

More then what would be if they hadn't graduated in the first place that's for sure. Doesn't matter how "ready" you are for college if your not walking across the stage
Anonymous wrote:So did anyone here actually take the parent survey the district had out recently regarding proposed changes to the grading policy? Or do folks like to complain but not do anything...or, you know, live here.
The survey was interesting. I selected "no" on a lot of the ideas that made getting a higher GPA easier, IMO. But if you aren't involved, well, you know where that gets you.

So instead of moving, sending your children to private school, or homeschooling, you are just letting your children get a sub par education and bashing the place you live on an anonymous forum?
Yes, that sounds perfectly plausible. I am sure you are telling the truth.![]()
I can easily believe PP IS telling the truth. A lot of working people do not have choices.
I think not, in this context. And there is always the option to MOVE. It is not like PG county is some sort of open air prison. If you don't like it leave!
But then she would have to move to Silver Spring or Gaithersburg and ewww who wants that

As a resident of PG, I wonder about comments like these. I can only imagine that you would make this kind of dumb prediction if you believed that the outcome was in your best interest. Why would PG County having a bad school system be in your interest? Why is PG County so damn threatening to people? Do you think that if our schools got better and our home values rose, yours would drop or something? What kind of amateurish understanding of economics would lead you to think this?
Lame.
Huh? My children attend pg county schools. I grew up going to Montgomery county schools. Husband grew up in pg county schools.
Why are you sending your children to schools that "suck"?
because that is where we live.

Oh I believe her. What she means to say is her "superior education" in Montgomery County didn't result in a successful career so she can't afford the Bethesda/Potomac school cluster
