It seemed as though they through it together that day. My daughter loved it, but as a parent, I expected more especially since people had not sent back contracts yet and this was the NCS time to put its best foot forward. Maybe next year they will hold it in the upper school and add some more class. The admissions letter was beautiful, but the reception was haphazard. I have to agree that all of that talk of homework wreaked of unhappiness and the statement about we frolic in a grass field and learn to avoid tourists was silly and underscores the need for a protected playground space for lower school girls.
+1 I accepted admission and am confident we will be happy with the choice (picked NCS over Holton) but the reception was underwhelming.
As a current NCS parent I think you will be very happy with the school. The reception may have been underwhelming (esp compared to some who give a party atmosphere to welcome families) but the school is amazing day to day. Not sure what the homework talk was about but sounds like it was a student? my 3rd grader in public school complains about half an hour of homework at night so take it with a grain of salt - all kids complain about homework at one point or another. There are homework time limits and block scheduling at NCS and my DD has never been overwhelmed on this front (ever). Welcome!

Holton-Arms clearly has a marketing department. The acceptance envelope contained foil stars that just got all over the floor. Holton-Arms water bottle at welcome reception/event, but anything else was for purchase.
We didn't have stars in our acceptance letter or see water bottles labeled Holton Arms. They had huge containers of filtered water with lemons, cumcumbers etc... with spigots to pour into glasses.
