This is an excellent point, and I wouldn't fault a guy for that. If I were to remarry, protecting my assets would be my #1 concern. A major reason why I won't even think of remarrying should things go south with DH. I am very much done with legal obligations and all that nonsense.

This !!! I'm a divorced mid 40s guy. I only hook up with women my age that are financially stable. I own my own home, 2 vehicles that are paid off, good paying job and a decent 401k.
I don't want to risk loosing what I worked hard for.

+1. I've been called a goldigger for this as a woman. I don't want alimony or to marry and quit my job. I just want to ensure that my assets aren't at risk should the marriage not work out. So I date guys who have just as much to lose or more.

I know more women divorced and renting in their 40's vs men. Do you think it could be that these women are loser too?

Yes because women do not do this? Wow you all are off in Lala live. The stats I see say 35% of men and 32% of women 22-32 live at home. So I guess those women are loser too? No gold digging woman would think 80k a year is worth crossing the street over. LOL

I don't know if it's a new thing, just easier to see now due to online dating. About 25 years ago, I had lost touch with 2 guys from my friend group. They did not seem interested in remaining friends or dating (they dated most of the other girls in our friend grouping at the time.) I assumed it was because I was more introverted and studious, not as attractive, etc...

Then word got around that I was going to a prestigious university for grad school. Both guys called me up about 2 months in the program and wanted to get together and go out. I did, and it seemed that they wanted to date my grad school, not me, and I realized that they had not wanted to go out with me all those years because ... I was too poor and not prestigious enough. Very pissed, because I assumed I had a crappy personality and/or unattractive, not that I was just less rich than my friends. Never went out with them again.

I a still remember a moment right out of college when a guy with a great job was hitting on me at a party. I was temping the summer before heading to a great grad school you've heard of. So I mentioned the temping but not the grad school. His face really fell. I read it that he was looking for an intellectual equal, and I was actually more impressed by this guy.

A recent study shows if you are unhappy and buy a bigger house, you just have more room to be unhappy in.

I was taught not to judge others.
I was taught to treat other people how I would want to be treated.
I was taught the truly important things in life, none of us can buy.

My wife and I both make a really great living. So what? We didn't compare tax returns when we met. We're best friends, love each other, and are making a GREAT life for our kids.
