I am 42 yrs old and have had 4 failed IVF cycles at CFA. I was with Dr. Abassi for the first three and then switched to Dr. Sacks.

I would like to know if there are other ladies who had success at age 42 at CFA. If so, could you please share the protocol and Dr.?

Would greatly appreciate any feedback. Many thanks!

We have used Dr Sacks recently. Overall he is a well mannered guy who explains things in plain english. Had a bad experience with the Muasher facility in fairfax in an earlier cycle. Our problems were mainly MF related. We transferred 3 embryos and are waiting for the results...

If you are doing IUI with Dr. Sacks, definitely ask Lorna to help you with any preauthorization. She is wonderful and was always on top of things for me. I don't know if she does IVF though.

Thanks -- unfortunately we're heading out of town and trying to get them to coordinate with the pharmacy where we're headed. Nightmare. We're considering taking our files to a different practice, but the nurse "helping" us at Dr. Sacks' office is leaving to go to the other practice.

I did -my recommendation -find out what exactly your insurance requires, whose responsibility it is, and then keep on CFA to do their part.

Sadly, this isn't the only practice where I have had these issues. It all works it in the end, but not without some stress.

It took Dr. Sharara in Reston, VA just a couple of appointments to figure out that there was nothing wrong. Dr. Sachs was a nightmare and caused unnecessary life altering stress for an entire year. He just seems to only want to bring in the money.

That was my experience. And I really liked him, I truly have nothing against him as a nice guy, we would talk for hours, but as a doctor I would warn people not to go.

I dont want to downplay your trouble, but if nothing was wrong why did you go to him in the first place? if what he was suggesting wasn't working or causing you such prioblems, why didn't you question it?

I think $160 for two hormones on a blood draw is pretty standard, unfortunately.

Blood work, which took all of 30 seconds to draw, they charged us $85 for one hormone level test and $75 for another. There is no way drawing blood and then testing it for two hormone levels can justify them charging $160 for about five minutes of labor.

If you look at insurance EOBs, you will find that any doctor's list price is ridiculous.

Another Dr. Sacks fan and success story here. I too was 40, had a child already. Got PG after transferring 3 embs. He was leaning toward 2, but I asked for 3 and now have the most extraordinary daughter. Good luck to you.

the billing department at CFA is a nigthmare and they cause much more stress than the actual IVF process! They overbill, duplicate bill, and ignore phone calls and messages when you have questions about your bill.

Love him and I think the staff at Columbia were really great! I didn't find the practice disorganized at all. I liked the fact that it's a small practice.
