My two specific questions are: do the teachers like their jobs; are the classrooms in theses schools orderly? Not interested in aap or immersion or ib programs. Just good teaching and respectful kids. This will be a second house for us, so if we don't find anything we can wait. Our kids are still small.

Wait are you OP?

There are houses under $550 zoned for those schools.
Are Hunt Valley and Orange Hunt not on your list? Not much separates them from RVES and WSES.
we have very specific reasoning for the two areas we are searching. these two school zones don't fit it, even though I know they are quite good.
again, we already have a decent house and we will only move if the exact right opportunity pops up. we don't want a smaller house and less renovated house than the one we already have. The houses we have seen in these 2 school zones under $550K were in terrible shape and definitely NOT worth a move.
we are also looking in another area of fairfax county. we need to be quite close to I-95.
