I thought it would be a good safety, and got a waitlist number under 5. Somehow I never got a call....
Don't think of it as a safety unless you're friends with a secretary or similar.
Their classes aren't full. Did you call them?
No I got in another school and didn't feel like calling. But they specifically told me they would call me when a spot opened... And never did.
Okay, well if you were desperate and needed a safety, you would have called. Yes, they are a hot mess, admin-wise, but they are a good and safe loving option for those who don't get their first pick of the others.
Cleveland ES - English

Last year neither filled their PK3 cohort in the first round.

They are having an Open House this Saturday from 9:00 - 12:00.
I don't think they accepted OOB for PK3 last year, or am I wrong?

Apparently there were over 100 people at their last Open House. Not sure it's a safety anymore.
I don't think they had to sign anything saying it would be on their list. Also every Van Ness parent I know is planning to lottery. Not because they don't like the school, but it is new. Anonymous wrote:Van Ness is a great safety, but it only goes until 1st right now I think.

I think this is an indication of the value this school places on structure. As someone with a kid there (who frankly only because we had a terrible lottery draw), it confirms some of my fears. I'm not looking for an administration overlord, but I do think that structure and responsiveness = quality at some level.
