I hate Southern accents. Annoying and they take forever. I don't love Midwestern accents either.
I'm neutral on most English accents -- interesting at first but after a while they annoy me. Same with Indian accents.

I love Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Australian, New Zealand, and South African accents. The cantor at my synagogue when I was a kid was from South Africa, and I always enjoyed listening to him talk during bat mitzvah prep!

There are a few southern accents that I love too- If you have upper elementary school children pick up the audio version of "Love, Ruby Lavender" - those are fun. I like some of the New Orleans accents. I am partial to rural southwest Virginia too- some are really interesting to listen.

We're not saying we hate those people. Settle down, Frances.
