Women will want men less and less as time goes by. They don't always make more money now and they are prone to criminal activity. They suck at child rearing and are babies. They also tend to be narcissistic and need instructions to do the simplest task. They are on their way out.

It's so strange that women today with all their rights and privileges still purposefully want to act like their historically impressed counterparts. You realize these women were often times forced to marry much older men when they were 16 so they could be baby making machines right ?

Sadly women still gain a lot of power and status from marriage. Men still hold a good amount of the power and there is a lot to gain from marriage for a woman, including legal rights to property and assets in the case of divorce.

Well in the case of Kate Middleton who literally became a princess through her marriage.

For the rest of us who do not marry rich high status men, marriage doesn't change our status much.

Only to a certain point. Unmarried men in their late 30s or 40s who think they are "having fun" usually come across as pathetic and fooling only themselves.

It is this attitude - this societal pressure - that makes people get married when they are otherwise not well suited for marriage. Single = pathetic.

Not really. Laws are changing dramatically and there is hardly any alimony anymore, and child support only if you do the majority of childcare

Because it is not all about money, and the smarter you are the more fast you will learn it. I am making a lot of money, but this is not the only thing I want in this life. I do need man to survive, can't live without regular sex (I am physically getting sick, irritated, have migrains withot regular sex). I do need a regular partner as I don't want to spend years on dating. Living with a man does not necessary make you defendant. I am really sorry if this is your only experience and you never had an equal partner. And last, but not least, is love. If you ever loved the man, you would never right anything like this. There is no money in the world can buy this feeling.
