I thought Giblin was coaching again?

Prep lacrosse will be just fine. You are crazy to think they will be towards the bottom of the IAC.

Must be delusional Gonzaga lacrosse parent!

Paro is a good man. Giblin is a stunted adolescent. We are better off now than a few years ago.Period.

That is fine with me. And I am a Proud Prep alum.

I rather see the school focus on building up its football program vs a little kids game.

Lets face it too. Giblin was a total ass hole.

I'm glad Danny Paro, who has the school's best intentions at heart, did not cave into some alums and feel pressured to re-hire Giblin.

I know the story very well and GP had enough of Kevin's antics.

In full disclosure, my son played for both Kevin and Danny at Prep.

Now that that jackass Giblin is gone from Prep, expect more Mater Dei kids to be turning to GP again.

Withour Giblin, Prep lacrosse is headed down to the middle of the IAC pack at best. It will go on a bit off of the momentum he established.

And they will increasingly lose the involvement of the GP alums who were there under the Giblin regime, who serve assistant coaches for the Varsity, and JV and for Club Blue, etc.

No Giblin, less overall financial and an AD who is football-centric will takes its toll.

You can argue about this. But it will be proven out.

Not great. His record last year was terrible. And it's not like they played a challenging schedule unlike the previous coach.

How is St Johns doing under Horsey?

Gonzaga Head Coach is known to over recruit. The school clearly has a very high enrollment (1,000 boys just in the US). As the PP noted, any type of larger student body will have a greater percentage of kids in the school who happen to play lacrosse - whether they were recruited to Gonzaga or just happen to be there.

Much of Gonzaga's lacrosse rise has to do with the economy. Its a cheaper option compared to its Jesuit rival, Georgetown Prep. it saw a huge influx of applicants when the economy started to tank in 2008.

I believe last year, Mater Dei top lacrosse players all went to Georgetown Prep and I have been told this year's current 8th grade is leaning in Prep's favor.

Then likely not a D1 prospect.

Yes they have cuts in Freshman team. There are some very talented players on the Freshman team this year...two already verbally committed to Hopkins. Gonzaga is very strong in LAX, so I am sure the recruiters are eyeing them closely. And I imagine the fact that the school is so large makes the school even more competitive. Sheer numbers increase the chances of having more talent.

I am PP...and I am not a Gonzaga Dad

Rankings are not yet out. Landon will be in the top 5.

No.
