My sister in law was pregnant and on the verge of divorce from my brother. Then he had to move away for 9 months. He missed the first 6 months of the baby's life (although he came home to visit a few times) but it saved their marriage.

I know someone going through a similar situation, and I think it's a mistake. I don't think there's any risk of cheating, but there will definitely be resentment and misunderstandings that will build up on both sides, and given that they're not a good place in terms of communicating with and supporting each other, I worry that this time apart could do lasting damage.

I want the emotional intimacy back. Yes, right now I am really only staying so there are two parents, and because I figure we loved each other once, so it could happen again. Divorce is too final.

What exactly do you want OP? You list all these reasons why him leaving is a bad idea for your marriage but don't communicate that to him. Frankly, the way you talk, you know you don't love your husband. Are you really only staying so your child will have two parents? Are you willing to change your thought process and work on things? If so, then change your thinking about the next six months and get to work on you! Good luck!

Call, write, text, facetime. He only left today. There is still plenty of time to miss him. Make a countdown calendar. Best of luck, OP.

We fought before he left. There won't be any of that for a long, long time.

Neither are an option in this situation.

Unless he is military, why is this not possible?

He is military.
