We are falling apart. We are no longer the richest either. Loudon, Arlington, Fairfax and Howard have all surpassed us in the last five years. We are on our way to becoming the next PG county.

Whatever, Fairfax cancelled school for the rest of the week already...if you want to complain about the whole DC area, fine, but MoCo is no worse off than the other counties in terms of school closings, plowing, etc.

I'm on my third winter here and after every snow, no matter how minor, this comes up. Can someone who has been here a while tell me why this has not happened/why it won't be happening? Thanks.

Why don't you move your ass south? I have a friend who lives in Georgia. His county does not own a snowplow. He has seen snow once in his life.

This entire region honestly sucks. The people, the traffic, the over-building, the roads, the tolls, the corrupt politicians, the over-priced housing for high-ratio crappy schools. Everyone is either rich or trying to act rich (keep up with the Jones's in severe debt) or they are lower class expecting $15 to flip burgers. It just seems like normal middle class people are gone. OMG. It stopped snowing on Saturday and half of it melted today. Its down to about 1.5 feet. Its beyond idiotic that it is taking them all week. The only thing dumber is claiming this is a success or an accomplishment. The kids are going to end up going back when its all melted and gone. Yippee! MCPS waited out the snow for it to melt. Great work everyone. Raises for everyone! As long as you set the bar so low, public officials will lap it up and be less and less efficient.

BUT, I also think the fault lies with the county public works department. The roads are not properly plowed. Why they cannot get the plows out there to finish the job is beyond my comprehension. I have not seen one plow working today...not one. Every time I saw a plow, they were not plowing. So pathetic!!!

It is not unusual or unreasonable to expect them to need 72-96 hours to clear the roads after a large storm. If you think about it, that's an incredibly successful accomplishment.
