Then before you buy a dog make sure you have a plan for where to go if you have to evacuate or if you lose power and actually everyone should also make sure they have a person to take over if they perish. So many dogs end up in shelters when their loving owner passes away.

That said, prosecuted? Uh no. They should have thought of what to do before getting the dog, but if it's life or death, you save your humans.

I am sending my kids to my ex mother in law's for this storm. She never loses power because her lines are buried.

Not in my house. Human friends are welcome, animals no.

Don't worry, your friends won't want to leave their dogs. They will probably huddle around the fireplace with blankets. You can always invite them over for dinner or snacks and say that they're welcome to come by if they want to warm up, but that unfortunately you're very allergic to dogs. They'll understand, NBD.

dogs are not people they can always kill the dogs and climb inside them like luke Skywalker

Actually they're very much like children. You're responsible for their survival, getting fed and watered and their safety. Dogs aren't meant to be outside in freezing temps or unheated houses.

Jesus there is a lot of projecting going on in this thread.

First, even people WITH kids would not leave their dogs alone in a freezing house during a blizzard. Its called empathy/compassion.

Second, its fine to offer just dont be offended or make it weird if they decline becasue of the dogs. Its creating a weird awkward situation if you do.

Third, its fine to not want the dogs, just once again, don't be weird if they decline.

Fourth, dogs are not all the same. While my husky mix would survive the cold house fine (although be worried and anxious about being left alone overnight and by himself for so long), my other dog WOULD freeze. She's short haired and can't handle extreme cold, she'd be shivering in a corner for two days.

Its nobody's business what's important to someone else. JUST DON'T GET WEIRD ABOUT IT.
