So cool to see this post! i loved Ice Cream Star and don't know a single other person that has read it. Loved the others you mention too, except for Kitchens of the Great Midwest, which I haven't read. I will add it to my list!
I admit, for the first couple chapters I couldn't make my brain comprehend the language and I almost put it down. But I told myself to stick with it and after 6-7 chapters I got the hang of it and could read it easily. Glad I pushed through!
