i have similar hair/texture and wake up with crazy hair. I prefer to have some wave to my hair, so I recently started using a hot round brush (Hot tools/Ulta sells one I like). Makes my hair look much better than when I used all the other tools I've tried (hot curlers, hot curler, straightener, blow dryer in the morning). It makes it look like I actually woke up and decided to wash/blow dry my hair...which will never happen. I don't use the hot air brush (blow dryer w a brush)...I use the hot round brush.

Product recommendation: Uncurly. https://uncurly.com

I am a do it at night person too and this stuff practically lets me just roll out the door without even combing it. If I blow dried it straight, it's still straight. If I air dried or even went to bed wet, it's a looser, prettier version of itself. Plus my hair blow dries in 10 minutes instead of 40 and I don't have to stretch it/roll it much when I'm going straight.

Plus it totally prevents frizz so I really never use any product at all except occasional hairspray. Love it. I apply it every 4 or 5 months.

You can always tie it up in a bun overnight or set it in braids.

Then in the morning you will have some cute beachy waves that just requires a good tousling and some salt spray.
