Op here- I've lived here since June 2012. I had a roommate (good friend) until June 2014. Didn't end up getting another roommate until end of March 2015 as I was fine paying the rent and everything myself for 9 months but once I switched to working from home, my income went down a little bit so decided to get a new roommate. I'm currently the only one on the lease and she technically sublets the room from me.

Op here- I don't think we had any issues with the AC. I think we both agreed to have it on 70 during the day and 67 at night. It's just the heat that's causing issues.

Tell her to move out.

In the meantime.

Get an electric blanket. It will keep you warm.

Set the temperature to whatever you want or higher so when she sets it to 63, it will take a while for it to go down.

Get a space heater.

OP here: I'd get a dog if our landlord allowed it but she doesn't. I'm moving out in June anyways because I'm moving to New York but still. It would be one thing if I was expecting it to be on 70+ all day but I don't think 66 is that much to ask for.


If you are moving, suck it up and stick it out or find another place until then. Doesn't sound like she would conpromise


Op here- I've been living in this condo for 4 years now, she just moved here in March. I definitely won't be the one moving out over this.

These are prohibited in rentals. Let the landlord know and he ups she will tell Blyth of you to keep the rental at 65 to 68 at all times or be evicted

Why is everyone saying the 63 degree person gets to decide? Why not OP? Just talk to her and work it out. If she won't budge, then put it at 70 all day, and when she knocks it down it will still be ok until bedtime. What else can you do if she's going to be totally unreasonable?

That's just crap. Our gas bill is $30 in the summer and $250 in the winter.

Op here: because from 5pm-11pm when I go to bed, it's FREEZING. It runs non stop after 4pm when it gets colder out and it's on 63. We are on an end unit too so our condo also doesn't hold heat well which makes it worse.
