In hotels, illicit adult behavior/activities sometimes take place. What if someone answering a Craigslist ad knocks on the wrong door, in anticipation of a role play scenario? Or what if some adult follows her back to your hotel room? For me, hotels are not for unsupervised young people.

I would take the child. Kids love spending "hotel time" with their parents. Ask the child if they want to come. That would solve it one way or another.

Absolutely not, not if there was no adult available all day long. If it was 8 hours or less, and the 13 year old had things to do (homework, a movie, some crafting, some exercising and something else sounds about right), it would be fine if it was just one day. But 2+ days and/or 1 long day of 8+ hours, and it would be an absolutely not, at least for me.

nope

I was almost raped at 17 in a hotel when I ordered room service. My parents were taking a trip that didn't interest me.

Thankfully, he was a small guy. So I could fight him off.

17 . . . not 13 . . .
