The sonogram she posted says 11 weeks, dated December 10th. Someone knew about November 17th, when son came home from an event with the rumor. (I checked my calendar for the date of that event) So, she told SOMEONE in the school, and DENIED it.

I am pretty sure that they will be able to find a chaperone at some point IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS.

Also, are you really getting upset with the teacher for not wanting to tell the world in early pregnancy that she was in early pregnancy? She doesn't owe you an early announcement of her pregnancy just because you spent $2,000 on a school trip.

Easy there is so much to do in NYC and it isn't cheap:

Train ticket
Hotel rooms
Meals for three days
Museums/The Met, Natural History Museum, MOMO, Guggenheim
The Lincoln Center
Broadway Show
Top of the Rock
Empire State Building
Circle Line Tour
Bus Tour
A day trip to the shore
Coney Island
Etc
Etc
Etc

You may say we're judgmental, but you are coming across as completely unhinged in your post. You have turned what should be really nice news for this woman and her husband into a unbelievably self-centered bitch session about you and your kid. You may not like the responses to your post, but I think it's because you are not possessing a very good meter on what is an appropriate response to this situation. I suggest you take a step back and do some self-reflection on what could possibly be so bad about this whole thing. The trip isn't for SEVERAL MONTHS. You were willing to send your child off with this person so I'm assuming you felt like she and her husband are responsible people. Why don't you give her the benefit of the doubt that she will be responsible about setting this trip up in an appropriate manner? That's the least you could do.

Also, unfriend her on Facebook...you do not sound like someone who she should be "friends" with. It's not appropriate. She should be able to have her own life without your pushy judgements involved!

This is why I would never want to be a teacher.

I agree. I was hoping for something more interesting than anxiety ridden helimom.

I could only understand the irritation if it was a situation where popular teacher Ms. X agreed to help drum up student interest in a trip by advertising the trip as one that she would personally chaperone. But Ms. X knew from the beginning that she was pregnant and would never be able to go and that a less popular teacher Ms. Y (a real grouch) would really be the one chaperoning....
